Professor Lee Featured in World Economic Forum Article on How Artificial Intelligence Could Transform Manufacturing

IMS Center founding director was quoted in a recent World Economic Forum article titled: 4 Ways Artificial Intelligence Could Transform Manufacturing. This article is part of the 2023 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting at which Professor Lee was in attendance as a member of the Global Future Council on Advanced Manufacturing and Production. Commenting on the topic of how AI can augment the workforce, Professor Lee advised that:

"AI should not be trial and error—it should follow a systematic approach."

- Professor Jay Lee

The article goes on to discuss how the lack of a systematic methodology, or general guidelines, for scaling successful pilot solutions is one of the biggest hurdles preventing manufacturers from realizing the full value of AI.

This perspective is in-line with the mission of the IMS Center to develop systematic, adoptable, deployable, and scalable technologies for brining industrial AI from the research lab to the shop floor. Professor Lee speaks more on this topic in his recent book: Industrial AI: Applications with Sustainable Performance. You can read more about this book here.
